You know, the thing that really drives me absolutely batshit fucking insane about the people that are against gay marriage is that these people, who are telling others how to live, are the exact same people that are against gun control because "the government's telling them how to live." So, you know, it's one thing for the government to take away their guns, which, by the way, exist solely to hurt living things, but the government allowing two full grown, consenting adults to marry each other, well... Uh-uh. Can't have that. It's okay for the government to stick their noses into people's private business for that. They just, you know, can't tell these people what to do. There's a valid line drawn for people that can and can't have the government sticking their noses into personal business.
Of course, you can't tell these people that. Because these people are so damn self-righteous and pig-ignorant, they won't even listen to you. Also, I am fairly certain, they think that their rights matter more than some gays'.
The fact of it is, there is no reasonable, unprejudiced reason why gays can't marry. They spout all this bullshit, but in the end, it's not about their religion (which, by the way, a true Christian should practice tolerance and love above all else. After all, Christians are supposed to be following Christ's path. Not the freaking fire and brimstone Old Testament). It's not about the "sanctity of marriage" (biggest load of bullshit of them all), and it's not even about the "production" of the marriage. So they can't have kids. Good. There are more than enough children out there in need of a family. We don't need to keep pumping out more of our own in an utterly selfish, narcissistic need to continue our genetic line. Take care of the ones already out there, for fuck's sake.
No, in the end, "protecting the sanctity of marriage" is nothing more than good old fashioned homophobia, and no matter what these people say, what reasons they give, that's all it is. And keeping two people from loving each other is just another way to say the government can tell us who we can and can't marry, taking away our own damn free will and putting it in the hands of people that don't give a shit.
(I am obviously very, very angry about Prop 8. What the fuck is wrong with the world.)
